Ways To Test Milk Purity: Milk is known as a ‘complete food’ and offers vital nutrients and antioxidants to the body. But how do you know if the milk you are consuming is pure and not adulterated? Many milk providers usually add harmful substances like starch, detergent or even synthetic milk or dilute their product with water.
Customers may unintentionally buy tainted milk which could pose major health hazards. There are simple ways to determine the purity of milk at home without the need for expensive tools or specific expertise. You can make sure the milk you consume is safe and pure by performing the below-mentioned tests to find any pollutants.
Tests To Check Purity Of Milk
Water Test
The water test is one of the easiest and most effective ways to check milk purity at home. Pour a small amount of milk into a transparent glass to conduct this test. To check the consistency of the milk, hold the glass up to a light source or set it on a white surface. Water may have been added if the milk seems thin, watery or too transparent.
Boiling Test
Take a pan and heat a small amount of milk in it. If the milk is unadulterated, the milk will form thick foam while boiling. If the milk is boiling without making any foam, it may have been tampered with water or other liquids.

Detergent Test
Take a small amount of milk and water in a transparent container and add a few drops of detergent to it. The addition of detergent or soap is an obvious sign of adulteration if the milk starts to foam or bubble right away.
Taste Test
Consume some milk and observe its taste and flavour. The milk may be adulterated with detergent, sugar or starch if it has an oddly sweet, starchy or soapy taste.
