This herb is a staple for food garnishing, making dips and adding flavour to basic dishes. Especially is Indian household, where it is a kitchen staple and used so often that it is much better to plant them than buy them weekly.

1. Choose a wide container with drainage holes. Terracotta is preferred. Use damp soil. You can also add compost for better growth.
2. Cut stems of a healthy mint plant from 4 to 6 inches, or simply purchase a rooted plant from a local nursery. Place them 2-3 inches deep in soil and preferably 2-3 per pot.
3. Watering: Water the seeds thoroughly till the water drains out.
4. Sunlight for the plant: Keep the plant in partial shade; morning sun is good for the Indian summer season. Keep the soil of the plant moist, not soggy. Check the soil daily.
Daily Care Routine For Mint Plant:
1. Water when top soil dries (every 2 or 3 days).
2. Fertilise monthly with dilute solutions containing NPK 10-10-10.
3. Prune tips of the plant every week.

4. Rotate the pot for an even shape.
5. Harvest: Harvest the leaves in 6-8 weeks. If the leaves turn yellow, it is a case of overwatering or pests, which can be fixed with neem spray. Divide the roots of the plant every year by shifting it to a new pot.
