Do you know that using a phone excessively can negatively affect one's mental health? Extended usage of screens, especially for social media or gaming, can worsen feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and depression. Constant demands from digital devices and notifications might lead to feelings of overwhelm that compromise general wellbeing. Screen blue light can cause sleep disturbances that impair mood and cause weariness.
Also, excessive phone use might hinder in-person encounters, which can affect social skills and the development of real bonds. In the digital age, sustaining good mental health requires setting limits, embracing offline activities, and finding a healthy balance when using phones.

According to Dr. Saras, "Phone addiction has notable implications for mental health. Excessive and compulsive use of smartphones can contribute to heightened levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. The constant engagement with digital devices may lead to disruptions in sleep patterns, as the emitted blue light can interfere with the natural circadian rhythm, negatively impacting overall sleep quality."
In addition, he added, "The pervasive nature of phone addiction can result in social withdrawal and isolation, as individuals may prioritize virtual interactions over face-to-face communication. This can potentially lead to a decline in interpersonal relationships, fostering feelings of loneliness and exacerbating existing mental health issues. Furthermore, the long exposure to social media platforms can contribute to the development of unrealistic standards and social comparisons, which may induce feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem."
