International Family Day 2023: Significance

Our family helps us get through the difficult times in our lives. Family is an important foundation as they offer support, security and unconditional love. Not only do they shape us into better individuals, but they are also the primary sources of our learning, values and belief system. Families instil in us the value of cooperating and getting along with others. This special day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1993 with resolution A/RES/47/237 and reflects the importance the international community attaches to families.
