Who Should Avoid Guava: With the peak of guava season upon us, we can all spice up our taste buds while sprinkling it with little salt and chilli or run some fresh guava into refreshing smoothies to celebrate its season. Guavas are the definition of fresh, delicious fruit, packed with vitamins and nutrients and hailed for a number of health benefits. But do you know, guavas may not be appropriate for everyone and some individuals may experience side effects or possible health risks when consume guavas. Here, we've listed those groups of people who need to avoid or limit guava intake because of its health risks.
People Who Should Avoid Guava
People With Bloating Issues
Eating large quantities of guava can cause bloating because of the extra fructose and vitamin C. It is difficult for the body to absorb excess vitamin C which creates an uncomfortable feeling. Moreover, eating guava and going to sleep shortly thereafter can also cause bloating.
Diabetics
Guava, possessing a low glycemic index is a good fruit choice for diabetic persons. However, caution should be exercised. Diabetics must monitor their blood sugar levels to avoid spikes at the same time. Guava can be enjoyed but moderation is important because a large consumption of guava might affect the control of blood sugar.

People With IBS
Guava's high fibre content can help alleviate constipation and aid digestion but eating too many can cause problems in the digestive tract. Guava should be avoided by patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), since it can lead to a worsening of symptoms and painful consequences. It is always best to use moderation in order to gain benefits.
People With Eczema
Guava, although a nutritious fruit can worsen eczema. The chemical compounds in guava leaf extracts can cause skin irritation and inflammation in people with skin conditions mainly in those with severe skin conditions. So, people must avoid guava and guava leaves if they have eczema symptoms.

People With Toothache
A ripe guava can aggravate toothache pain. The sugar level and acidity in ripe guavas also irritate sensitive teeth and gums, enhancing toothache pain. Therefore, it is best not to consume ripe guavas until your toothache improves.
