Ms. Ritika Samaddar, who is the Regional Head of South Zone at Max Super Speciality Hospital in Saket, exclusively told Jagran English about whether it is good to walk immediately after dinner.

According to Ms. Ritika, "walking after a meal is considered effective for weight loss and for maintaining sugar levels. The usual belief that walking just after a meal causes fatigue and stomach aches is not true."

In addition, she said, "After eating meals, blood sugar levels are at their highest 30–60 minutes after a meal, so walking after a meal will help with better sugar control."

At last, Ms. Ritika said, "But one should be careful with the intensity and not be involved in heavy workouts or brisk walking as blood flow is directed towards the stomach for the digestive process, but if heavy exercise is done, that might cause disturbance in digestion. So it's advisable to do simple walking to yield maximum benefits post-meal.
