Janmashtami 2024: The vibrant festival of Janmashtami honours the birth of Lord Krishna and is marked by joyful celebrations, intricate ceremonies and, of course, delicious cuisine. The fragrances of traditional foods fill the air as devotees assemble to celebrate Krishna's magnificent advent, making this an especially special occasion.
This year, Janmashtami will be celebrated on August 26 (Monday). During Krishna Janmotsav, the feast includes both savoury and sweet foods. It's a time to celebrate with loved ones and show devotion in addition to eating. Here are some delicious delicacies that you can enjoy with your guests on this special occasion.
Delicacies To Eat On Janmashtami
Rajbhog
Rajbhog is the ultimate in festive indulgence, a rich, decadent dessert. Made with chenna (cottage cheese) and soaked in a luxurious syrup flavoured with cardamom and rosewater, these milk-based confections are infused with saffron.
Peda
Indian sweetmeats, also known as pedas, are delicious little morsels made with cardamom, sugar and condensed milk. These sugary nuggets, which are a festive favourite and particularly well-liked on Janmashtami, are frequently topped with almonds and saffron.

During Janmashtami, Aloo Puri is a must-have for individuals who like savoury foods. In this dish, hot and flavourful potato curry is served with deep-fried bread. Crispy puris and a filling, aromatic potato curry combine to create a delectable and fulfilling lunch.
Kheer
Classic Indian rice pudding, or kheer, is a rich and satisfying delicacy that's frequently offered during religious holidays. Kheer is a cardamom-flavoured rice dish that is made using basmati rice, milk and a lot of sugar. Nuts and dried fruits are added as garnish.
Makhan Mishri
Without Makhan Mishri, a straightforward yet cherished offering of butter and sugar, no Janmashtami celebrations would be complete. This combo is believed to have been Lord Krishna's favourite snack. Though it is really simple to make, this dish has a lot of significance.
