Jyestha Purnima 2023: Date And Shubh Muhurat

The third month of the Hindu calendar is referred to as the Jyestha month. This year, Jyestha Purnima will be observed on June 03, 2023. According to Drik Panchang, the Purnima Tithi will begin at 11:17 AM on June 03 and end at 09:11 AM on June 04, 2023.

Jyestha Purnima 2023: Significance

Shri Satynarayana and Goddess Lakshmi are worshipped on the occasion of Jyestha Purnima. Devotees across the country worship the deity to seek their blessings for a happy and prosperous life. This occasion is observed as Jyeshtha Purnima in Northern India, and in states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, and South India, it is known and celebrated as Vat Purnima.

The legend of Savitri and Satyavan is associated with Jyestha Purnima. Savitri had pleaded with Lord Yama to bring back to life her dead husband Satyavan. She kept on pleading with Yamraj for almost three days. Yama finally gave in to her demand and brought Satyavan back to life. The main deities who are worshipped on this day are Brahma, Savitri and also Yama, Narad and Satyavan.

Jyestha Purnima 2023: Puja Rituals

On the special occasion of Jyestha Purnima, devotees wake up early in the morning, clean their houses, take a bath and wear clean clothes. After that begin with worshipping Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva with faith and devotion. Tulsi leaves to Lord Vishnu and Bilva patra to Lord Shiva are offered along with other things.

Offer Arghya made with milk and honey to the moon as it is believed that it brings ease and patience to life. Devotees believe that on this auspicious day, Goddess Lakshmi resides on the Peepal tree with Lord Vishnu. Therefore, to attain wealth, a pot filled with sweetened raw milk is offered to the Peepal tree.
