JE Lifestyle Desk: Monsoon is loved by majority of people as it provides relief from the scorching heat. Not only does it provide pleasant weather, but also revitalises nature, and fills our hearts with joy. Although the weather gets delightful, monsoons also attract various skincare problems. The rainy season leads to more humidity, which can cause numerous skincare issues such as acne, inflammation, oily skin and fungal infections. The flipside of weather change can be tough on the skin.
1. Apply Sunscreen
One should never compromise with the application of sunscreen. The harmful UV rays can be harmful to the skin and cause skin ageing. The harmful ultraviolet rays can further damage the skin and cause premature ageing, tanning, and sunburns. According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association (AAD), choose a sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or higher, is water resistant, and provides broad-spectrum coverage, which means it protects you from UVA and UVB rays.
2. Exfoliation
Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells from the surface of the skin using scrubs. Exfoliation is an integral skincare regime which improves the appearance of the skin and helps prevent clogged pores. According to AAD, exfoliation can leave your skin looking brighter and improve the effectiveness of topical skin care products by enhancing absorption.
3. Avoid Over Makeup
Due to humid weather, applying too much makeup during monsoons can ruin your entire look and lead to several skincare problems. Monsoons can be the worst nightmares for makeup lovers. Too much makeup can mingle with sweat and rain, therefore it is better to stick to minimal or light makeup during the rainy season.
4. Use Natural Products
During monsoons, it is important to switch to natural products for your skincare regime. Natural products can be a great way to soothe and nourish your skin. You can include ingredients such as curd, turmeric, rose water or coffee which are beneficial for skin health and promote healthy skin.
5. Hydration
Drinking plenty of water is another vital skincare regime that you must follow every season. During monsoons, the weather becomes excessively humid, which leads to more sweating and skincare problems. Therefore, keeping yourself hydrated can be the key to healthy skin.
