National Youth Day 2025: Every year on January 12, India celebrates National Youth Day, a momentous occasion that honours the potential and contributions of the country's youth. It is particularly significant because it commemorates the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, one of the country's most influential philosophers, spiritual leaders and social reformers whose teachings on the value of self-reliance, discipline, education and national development have inspired generations of young people. Vivekananda's conviction that the youth can influence the country's future via hard work and self-discipline is still relevant today.
National Youth Day 2025 History
National Youth Day is celebrated annually on January 12 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, who is known for his contributions to the revival of Hinduism and his advocacy for universal brotherhood. In 1985, the government honoured Vivekananda's vision and his focus on the importance of youth in determining the future of the country by establishing January 12 as National Youth Day.
