As we are entering a new year, having radiant-looking skin that needs no makeup but involves a dermatologist-mended regimen devised specifically with radiant skin in mind. Regular cleansing twice a day with a gentle exfoliating cleanser will remove impurities without drying the skin. Exfoliating 2-3 times a week using gentle exfoliating products will help remove dead cells from the skin’s surface. To directly address the goal of having a radiant glow for those New Year’s gatherings, use illuminating serums in the morning, like serums with active ingredients. For a night glow, use niacinamide. Meanwhile, drinking plenty of water and having a diet rich in antioxidants will help promote healthy-looking skin from the inside.
Skin experts emphasise that sun protection must be non-negotiable and that a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ protector must be used daily, in fact, even indoors if you want a radiant glow and want to avoid dullness and damage that prevent glowing skin. At night, basic routines must involve exfoliating or "sloughing off" dead skin cells through a gentle retinol product and a hydrating night cream that suits your skin type, either in gel if you have oily skin or in lotion if you have dry skin that needs nighttime moisturising too. In conversation with The Daily Jagran, Dr Ameesha Mahajan, Cosmetic Dermatologist & Founder, Eden Skin Clinic, shares the skincare routine you should follow to get glowing skin.
Beginning With A Clean Canvas - Face cleansing is the basic step when it comes to getting party-ready. Using a gentle and sulfate-free cleanser helps in removing dirt, excessive oil and pollutants from the skin. Double face cleansing is needed when you have applied makeup or sunscreen on your face.

The Real Glow Booster Is Hydration - Well-hydrated skin reflects light better, giving you that natural glow. Follow cleansing with a hydrating toner or mist to rebalance the skin’s pH. Layer a lightweight serum with hyaluronic acid or glycerin to lock in moisture. Even oily skin needs hydration—just choose non-comedogenic formulas.

Targeted Care Is Non-Negotiable - Before makeup, focus on areas that tend to look tired first. Use an under-eye gel or cream to reduce puffiness and fine lines. If your skin looks dull, a quick antioxidant serum (like vitamin C or niacinamide) can instantly brighten the complexion and improve makeup finish.
The Right Moisturiser Is Important - Choose a moisturiser based on your skin type—gel-based for oily skin, cream-based for dry skin. This step smoothens the skin barrier, prevents makeup from looking patchy, and keeps your skin comfortable throughout the night.
Sunscreen Is Non-Negotiable - Even if you step out at sunset. If you plan to step outside your house for a party before sunset, sunscreen is a must as sun damage can make the face look dull and accelerate the ageing process, even during winter.
Last-minute hacks won’t work if you want a glowing skin. All you require is smart skin prep and early preparation. When your skin is actually healthy, makeup becomes just optional and you shine with confidence.
