Summer's arrival marks the beginning of the mango season, the favourite of all. Mangoes, the quintessential summer fruit are a staple in almost every Indian household and are a nutrient-rich delight loaded with vitamins A and C, potassium and fibre. Their sweet, creamy flavour and velvety texture make them a favourite among people of all ages. Whether enjoyed after a meal, blended into a smoothie or used in a variety of desserts, mangoes are a versatile and delicious addition to any summer menu.

As the temperature rises, mangoes provide a cooling respite, making them a beloved summer tradition but there are some common misconceptions about this fruit that many people believe to be true. Celebrity nutritionist, Rujuta Diwekar busted common myths about mangoes and explained why you must include this yummy fruit in your diet.

Rujuta started her video while stating that, "It is summer and you should be eating the mango."

-Mango doesn't cause diabetes
-Mango doesn't cause obesity
-Mango doesn't even cause skin breakouts

To enjoy the fruit, Rujuta said, soak your mango for half an hour and then have your mango. Mango is delicious. "It is full of sweetness, pulp, fibre, antioxidants, polyphenols...all the stuff that you are looking for in different wellness products is in this natural fruit," she further added.

Don't deprive yourself of that because a mango a day, keeps sadness at bay.

On her Instagram post, she wrote-

1. The mango is good for you
2. The mango doesn’t cause diabetes or put you at a risk of elevated blood sugars
3. Even the American Diabetic Association recommends mango when it’s in season
4. Repeat.

Common Misconceptions About Mangoes

Mangoes do not cause diabetes. They have a moderate glycemic index, which means they won't cause a sudden spike in blood sugar levels. In fact, mangoes contain fiber and antioxidants that can help regulate blood sugar levels.

Mangoes do not cause obesity. They are low in calories and high in fibre, making them a nutritious and filling snack. A medium-sized mango contains only 100 calories and its fibre content can help prevent overeating.

Mangoes do not cause skin breakouts. In fact, they contain vitamins A and C which are beneficial for healthy skin. Mangoes are also rich in antioxidants that can help protect the skin from damage and promote a clear complexion.
