Although oats were not traditionally used in Indian food, they are increasingly being used as a healthy food source in several recipes. If you or someone in your family is a fitness enthusiast, the festivals may entail eating a few more calories than usual. This might seriously risk one's fitness goals.

Oats Kheer

To make the oat kheer, you will need 1 cup of oats, 1/2 liter of milk, dried fruits, sugar, and a few fruits.

How To Make Oats kheer

  1. In a pan, roast the oats well.
  2. Milk and sugar are heated in a separate pan.
  3. Add the oat mixture to the warm milk and continue stirring.
  4. Add dried fruits like almonds, cashews, dates, and cardamom once the mixture has thickened.
  5. Stir thoroughly. 
  6. To enhance the flavor of the kheer, you can add fruits like bananas and mangos.

Oats Idli

To make the oat idli, all you need are some rushed oats, grated carrots, salt, curd, mustard oil, curry leaves, chana dal, urad dal, and some green chilies.

How To Make Oats Idli

  1. Pan-roast the oats before crushing them into a fine powder.
  2. Add the salt and curd to the oat powder, along with grated carrots.
  3. Heat some oil in a frying pan, then add the curry leaves, mustard seeds, urad dal, and chana dal to the idli batter. Add this mixture.
  4. After that, the batter should be thoroughly blended and thick in consistency (similar to idli batter).
  5. Steam the idlis until they are done in a greased idli pan. At last, garnish the oat idli with fresh and grated coconut.

Oats Upma

To make the oat upma, all you need are two cups of cooked rolled oats, turmeric, salt, chopped chillies, onions, carrots, green peas, finely diced bell peppers, curry leaves, urad dal, mustard oil, mustard seeds, lemon, shredded coconut, and some coriander to garnish the upma.

How To Make Oats Upma

  1. Heat the pan and add one teaspoon of oil to it.
  2. Put the oats, turmeric, a little salt, and green chilies into the pan.
  3. Until the oats turn light brown, roast for 4-5 minutes.
  4. Cover the oats and cook them for 5-7 minutes, or until they are mushy, after adding some water.
  5. Meanwhile, add some additional oil and mustard seeds to a different pan.
  6. Add the urad dal once the seeds start to pop, and roast until the dal turns golden brown.
  7. After that, add some onions, salt, turmeric, and curry leaves, and sauté until the onions become translucent.
  8. Add the peas and diced carrots, and simmer for approximately a minute, or until the carrots start to soften.
  9. When you feel your oats are almost done, add salt, sprinkle bell peppers on top, and then add this veggie mixture to the oats.
  10. Cook for almost a minute, then serve and enjoy the meal.
