Onam Sadhya 2023: The special festival of Kerala, Onam began on August 20 and is being celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy. Onam marks the beginning of the Malayalam New Year and is also known as Thiruvonam or Thiru-Onam and is celebrated for 10 days in the state of Kerala.

Onam holds great significance in the Malayalam calendar as it signifies the bountiful harvest and also marks the beginning of the new year. The celebrations of Onam begin on Antham Day, the day when Atham Nakshatra prevails and continues for the next ten days until Thiruvonam Day. The celebrations of Onam include ‘Onam Sadhya’ which is specially prepared and relished on the occasion.

Onam Sadhya is also known as the grand feast which includes 26 delectables from the Southern state that are prepared by women of the house. It is a vegetarian multi-course supper with 26 varied dishes served on a banana leaf.
