JE Lifestyle Desk: One of the most auspicious yatras, Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra takes place every year in the country. People across the world eagerly wait for this auspicious occasion. It is one of the most famous Hindu festivals that takes place every year in the month of Ashadha. Also known as the Festival of Chariots, the Jagannath Rath Yatra is the annual visit of Lord Jagannath, Balaram and Subhadra to the Gundicha temple, where devotees stay for the next eight days.
This festival is held for nine days every year. It is the largest chariot procession in the world. Devotees observed the festival on the Dwitiya Tithi, Shukla Paksha of the Ashadha month, as per the Hindu calendar and ends on the tenth day.
Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra 2023: Date And Timings
This year, the Puri Rath Yatra will take place on June 20 and culminate on June 28, 2023. According to Drik Panchanh, the Dwitiya Tithi will begin at 03:55 PM on June 19, 2023, and end at 05:37 PM on June 20, 2023.
Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra 2023: Significance
According to Drik Panchang, Lord Jagannatha is worshipped primarily in the city of Puri at the famous Jagannatha temple. Lord Jagannatha is considered a form of Lord Vishnu and is also revered by the followers of Vaishnavism.
Jagannatha means Lord of the Universe. Jagannatha temple is one of the four Hindu pilgrimage centres known as Char Dham pilgrimages that a Hindu is expected to make in one's lifetime. Lord Jagannatha is worshipped along with his brother Balabhadra and his sister Devi Subhadra.
