With a sedentary lifestyle, not only our health but our skin also tends to suffer. Anti-ageing is a process defined as slowing or reversing the ageing process in the human body. Our skin begins to age due to several factors including age, unhealthy food choices, no physical activity, unhealthy sleep patterns and many others. To treat ageing, people try several different products available in the market. However, finding the cure at your home can be the easiest and most effective way to anti-ageing. Therefore, we have brought you a compiled list of some anti-ageing herbs that are available in every kitchen which can promote healthy and youthful skin with minimal efforts.
1. Basil
Basil, also known as Tulsi, is one of the most effective herbs and can be used for various purposes. It is known to be effective for anti-ageing as it has great amounts of antioxidants that help rejuvenate the skin and eliminate free radicals. Furthermore, it helps in repairing damaged skin. You can apply wet basil leaves under your eyes to reduce puffiness and the appearance of dark circles. To apply over your face, you can mix basil leaves with yoghurt, leave it for 2-10 minutes over your face skin and wash it with lukewarm water.
2. Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha is a popular herb known for its anti-ageing and rejuvenating properties. Consuming it regularly can have major benefits on your skin, hair and overall health. Ashwagandha oil is induced with antioxidant properties that delay skin ageing, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and protect the skin against the adverse effects of free radicals.
3. Turmeric
Turmeric is another well-known kitchen ingredient or herb which has potential skincare benefits. The anti-ageing content in turmeric works to protect the skin from free radical damage. It is also abundant in vitamin E, which is known to reduce ageing.
4. Ginseng
Several studies suggest that ginseng is an effective ingredient for skincare. When applied topically, ginseng can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and skin inflammation, boost hydration and maintain skin barriers. Ginseng is a great source of vitamin B, which helps in fading dark spots over the skin, balances hydration, and maintains the moisture levels of the skin.
5. Rosemary
The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of rosemary can protect the skin from environmental aggressors, which play a major role in ageing. It is a natural antioxidant that protects the skin against harmful elements in the environment called free radicals and promotes healthy and younger-looking skin.
