UrfiJaved, the queen of bizarre fashion recently underwent a procedure to dissolve her lip fillers after nine years, citing misplaced fillers as the reason. She documented the entire process, sharing unfiltered pictures and videos of her swollen face, showcasing her courage and honesty. Urfi clarified that she's not against fillers and plans to get them redone naturally. Her decision sparked a conversation around cosmetic corrections, highlighting the importance of informed caution and clinical expertise when undergoing beauty procedures. Uorfi's revelation serves as a cautionary tale, reminding us that even common cosmetic enhancements require careful consideration.
In a conversation with The Daily Jagran, Dr Amit Bangia, Associate Director- Dermatologist, Asian Hospital shared the dos and don'ts that will help to avoid a bad lip job.
How To Avoid A Bad Lip Job?
Lips are delicate, dynamic and unique to every face which makes lip augmentation both and art and science. Even best lip fillers can fail if injected too superficially or deeply. A one-size-fits-all approach is insufficient; precise product placement is required. A bad lip job is frequently caused by shortcuts and a lack of planning. It's not just about injecting a product; it's about assessing the face holistically. Each face has distinct proportions and fillers must comply with that. Mistakes can occur if the filler is of low quality or unauthorised and there is no defined treatment plan or face mapping.
Post filler mistakes can ruin your result. Aftercare is 50% of the job; even a well-done filler job can be harmed by inadequate aftercare. Common mistakes include excessive massaging and pushing, using intense exercise, sauna or steam within 48 hours. Smoking or drinking after the procedure is a big NO. Likewise, kissing too soon can shift your filler as do neglecting follow-ups with your injector.

Do's And Don'ts Of Lip Job
Stay away from strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours after receiving lip or dermal fillers. Walking is an acceptable form of light activity.
Staying hydrated post filler procedure will help your body to heal faster.
Consume plenty of hydrating fruits and vegetables, and avoid excess sodium, which can exacerbate swelling.
If you have bruising at the injection site, you can use aloe vera, vitamin K or arnica treatments. Before using them, you should consult your healthcare practitioner.
Following that, apply ice to your lips. This will relieve swelling, itching, bruising and any other discomfort.
For 48 hours after treatment, avoid high-temperature environments such as steam rooms, saunas or heated fitness classes.
In the days following your treatment, consult with your doctor about which pain medications are safe to take.
If you're getting lip fillers for a specific event, make sure there's enough time between the procedure and the event so your lips can fully recuperate.
To help minimise swelling, try sleeping with your head raised on pillows. Avoid sleeping on your face.
For up to 24 hours following the operation, avoid wearing makeup on your lips.
