Anemia is a disorder that occurs when your blood produces fewer healthy red blood cells than usual. Anemia occurs when your body does not receive enough oxygen-rich blood. A shortage of oxygen can cause fatigue or weakness. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), you may also have shortness of breath, dizziness, migraines, or an irregular heartbeat.

Anemia is defined by the amount of hemoglobin in the blood, according to WebMD. Anemia comes in a variety of forms and causes; some are minor and readily treated, while others can lead to major health consequences.

How Anemia Is Caused?

Red blood cells, which are created in the bone marrow, have an average lifespan of 100–120 days, according to WebMD research. 2 million red blood cells are produced by the bone marrow every second, while 1% are excreted daily. Anemia develops when processes disrupt the equilibrium between the creation and destruction of red blood cells. Causes can either affect the creation of red blood cells or result in their destruction or loss.

Why Does Lip Discoloration Occur?

Poor Circulation Of Oxygen

Lip coloring occurs as a result of inadequate oxygen circulation, a condition known as cyanosis. Lip discoloration occurs only when the oxygen saturation level falls below 85%, and it also occurs when hemoglobin levels are low.

Smoking

Smoking is one of the leading causes of lip discoloration, which occurs due to the strong coloring of cigarette ash. Another reason it occurs is due to Addison disease, which occurs when the adrenal gland does not produce enough cortisol.

High Sun Exposure

Lip spots, which can occur on the lips and range in color from beige to dark brown, can also cause lip discoloration due to excessive sun exposure. Therefore, it's crucial to get any new lip lesions examined since there are other illnesses, like skin cancer, that can have a similar appearance.

Anemia

Lips turn pale, or you could argue that it seems like you have anemia, which is also brought on by a low iron diet, a vitamin B12 deficiency, frequent periods, and intestinal bleeding.

Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, Associate Director of BLK Max Super Speciality Hospital, told Jagran English that anemia is common throughout the world, but especially in developing countries. Anemia is caused mostly by a lack of iron, vitamin B12, and folate. Anemia symptoms include weakness, shortness of breath, headaches or heaviness in the head, weariness, calf discomfort, and others. When anemia is severe, it might be accompanied by a pale face, lips, tongue, and so on. A non-vegetarian diet, cereals, and green leafy vegetables are all good sources of iron. Non-vegetarian diets are high in vitamin B12 and folate. As a result, we must monitor our dietary consumption. Females are more likely to suffer from anemia if certain nutrients are deficient; therefore, they should eat carefully. Anemia is a worldwide issue, and we should all work together to educate people on how to care for their hemoglobin. So let us all work together to eliminate nutritional anemia.
