Benefits Of Eating Neem Leaves Everyday: The neem tree stands as one of the most medicinal plants on Earth, revered for its healing properties found in every part, from bark to root to leaf. For eg. Neem seeds have cleansing properties and are used to get rid of intestinal worms, the bark of the neem tree is well known for its ability to combat dental plaque and reduce the number of bacteria present in the mouth. The fruit of the neem tree is pressed to extract its oil, which can then be applied to the scalp to remove dandruff & is an effective mosquito repellant, neem leaves are used to treat head lice, skin diseases, wounds or skin ulcers. Despite our advancements, physical science hasn't fully explored all its potential, fueling ongoing research due to its profound medicinal nature.
In a conversation with Jagran English, Shlloka Joshii, Classical Hatha Yoga teacher and Yogic Nutritionist explained the benefits of eating a neem leafy every day for overall health and well-being.

1. Prevents Cancer
Incorporating seven to eight raw neem leaves into your daily routine, particularly on an empty stomach, can act as a potent cancer preventive measure. Neem contains properties that disrupt the clustering of cancer cells, which, although present in our bodies, pose a threat when they gather and attack the body's health. Given that cancer ranks as the second leading cause of death worldwide, integrating neem into your diet could be crucial for maintaining overall well-being. If fresh neem leaves are not readily available, neem capsules or homemade neem paste can serve as effective alternatives. Simply wash the leaves thoroughly, chew them well, or prepare neem balls by taking a little bit of neem paste or powder and mixing it with water to form a marble-sized ball to reap the benefits. 1 marble size ball or 1 neem capsule a day is a good enough quantity.

2. Gut-Cleansing And Digestive Benefits
Neem offers remarkable advantages for gut health and digestion. It aids in eliminating parasites from the gut area, thereby promoting gut cleansing. Moreover, neem juice aids digestion, boosts metabolism, and facilitates the breakdown of body fat due to its bitter properties. Additionally, it effectively cleanses the colon, enhances excretion, and purifies the blood by eliminating bacteria with its abundant antibacterial and antiseptic enzymes. However, it's essential to consume neem in moderation as research has yet to determine safe consumption levels.

3. Energising the Body with Ojas
Neem provides a significant boost of energy and vitality to the body by enhancing the presence of ojas, a vital essence in Ayurveda. Particularly beneficial for individuals engaging in morning activities like yoga, meditation, or exercise, neem consumption on an empty stomach infuses cells with energy. This infusion of vitality helps combat drowsiness and ensures a more energised start to the day, promoting overall well-being and productivity.
4. Nature's Skincare Solution
Neem leaves offer a diverse array of benefits for skincare, making them an ideal natural remedy. Incorporating neem into your skincare routine can lead to a cleaner and more radiant complexion. Simply pluck a few neem leaves and grind them to a smooth paste with water, or take neem powder and mix it with a little water to form a paste. Applying the neem paste to your body before bathing and allowing it to dry harnesses its potent antibacterial properties, effectively cleansing your skin. Another method involves soaking neem leaves in water overnight to create a rejuvenating solution for your morning bath. With neem, achieving healthier, glowing skin becomes a simple and natural endeavour.
5. Blood Sugar Regulation
Neem has been traditionally used to help regulate blood sugar levels. Some studies suggest that neem may have anti-diabetic properties and can help lower blood glucose levels. The neem leaf extract helps in reviving beta cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. Just chew 2-3 tender neem leaves on an empty stomach or 1 hour before food. Neem’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties help in fighting oxidative stress, which in turn promotes liver and kidney health.

One thing to keep in mind is excessive consumption of neem will kill sperm cells. In the first four to five months of pregnancy, when the foetus is developing, pregnant women should not have neem. Neem does not cause any damage to the ovaries but it causes excess heat. When a woman has just conceived and there is too much heat in the body, she may lose the foetus. If a woman is planning to conceive, she should not consume neem because there will be excess heat, and the system will treat the baby like a foreign body.
