Despite the lack of a publicly accessible HIV/AIDS vaccine at the moment, ongoing research and clinical trials offer hope for the future development of a potent vaccine. In the case of HIV, a vaccine would help the body identify and combat the virus, either completely preventing infection or lessening its severity.
