World Thyroid Day was first observed with the foundation of the European Thyroid Association on May 25, 1965. Later in 2007, the Thyroid Federation International declared May 25 as World Thyroid Day every day. The date, May 25, was chosen to commemorate the founding day of the European Thyroid Association. Since then, World Thyroid Day is observed on May 25 annually.
