Bharat NCAP Ratings: In India, Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) introduced its vehicle crash test norms around five months ago. The initial results revealed safety ratings of the new Tata Safari and Tata Harrier, both receiving impressive five-star safety ratings. Now, the Bharat NCAP has shared a teaser on its social media platform indicating that new results for several models are anticipated to be revealed soon.

Due to the model code of conduct during the general elections, there haven't been any new test announcements. However, government authorities are concerned that delaying the program until the code of conduct ends on June 4 might lead to people losing interest. Therefore, they've advised manufacturers to proceed with announcing the results without waiting for the code of conduct to conclude.

According to a report by Autocar, it is likely that the second batch of BNCAP test results, covering models from various mainstream car and SUV brands, will be disclosed by Wednesday, May 8. While the specific cars tested in this latest batch remain undisclosed, there's speculation that Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai models might be among them. Maruti Suzuki had expressed its intent for BNCAP crash tests in early April 2024, although they didn't specify which models.

The upcoming launch of the fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback on May 9, 2024, and ongoing bookings across India hint that this model might have undergone BNCAP testing. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki's work on the new generation Dzire compact sedan, likely based on the Swift hatchback, suggests that it might also feature in the test results. Other potential models for testing include the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
