Ferrari's First-Ever Electric Sports Car: Italian supercar manufacturer Ferrari has made the announcement of its first-ever battery-electric vehicle (BEV), set to launch in late 2025. This marks a major shift for the iconic automaker, traditionally known for its high-performance gasoline engines and their distinctive noise.
While Ferrari has kept many details under wraps, Emanuele Carando, Ferrari’s Product Marketing and Marketing Intelligence Director, hinted at a unique approach to the electric driving experience. He mentioned that the car will "make some noise, both literally and figuratively," suggesting that the electric Ferrari will have a distinct sound signature, although specific details remain undisclosed. Carando assured fans that the new EV would be a "true Ferrari," emphasising that the sound will be "authentic" and capture the essence of the brand, even as it switches to electric power.
The design of this unnamed model remains a secret, but production is set to begin at a new facility in Maranello, Italy. Initial projections suggest that electric vehicles will make up 5 per cent of Ferrari's sales in 2026. Despite this electric push, Ferrari promises to continue offering the beloved V12 engine until regulatory restrictions make it impossible.

Ferrari's move into the electric vehicle market places them ahead of competitors like Lamborghini, whose EV, the Lanzador, isn’t expected to be launched until 2028. By the end of the decade, Ferrari anticipates that electric and hybrid models will represent a significant 40 per cent of their annual sales. This transition to electric vehicles is set to redefine the Ferrari experience while preserving the brand’s heritage and commitment to performance.
