Bollywood Actor Ranbir Kapoor recently compared the mythical Pushpak Vimanaa with the Tesla Roadster. Speaking about elements of his upcoming movie, Ramayana, the actor said that Elon Musk recently invented a flying car; I think India had it 5,000 years back. Ranbir plays Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part 1, and the movie is set for its worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026.

The actor made remarks about the Tesla Roadster and Pushpak Vimanaa during his conversation with Suma Kanakala at her show, named ‘Chat Show’. During the conversation, the host asked Nitish Tiwari for his views on the epic, Ramayana.
The conversation turned towards the enchanting elements of the epic. The host said that people back then were a lot more intelligent, and we haven’t reached there, even in terms of the weapons that were used. Replying to the host, Ranbir said, ‘I must also add that Elon Musk recently invented a flying car. I think India did it 5,000 years back.’

The Ramayan describes Pushpak Vimana as a flower-shaped chariot with flying capabilities. Additionally, the epic shares that the Pushpak moved at the speed of thought. The Tesla Roadster is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about 0.6 seconds.
Making a playful comparison, it can be said that the Roadster can reach 100 km/h before a person can think of something, and it is similar to the Pushpak Vimana. Additionally, the Tesla Roadster is also capable of performing aerial manoeuvres, and it appears closer to the mythical Pushpak in this manner.

Pushpak Vimana & Tesla Roadster: The Reality?
In reality, the Pushpak Vimana is closer to modern-day aircraft than it is to the Tesla Roadster, and that’s why it has been mentioned as a ‘Vimana ’, meaning something that could fly, in the epics. Additionally, the Tesla Roadster is a significant invention in itself, as it merges aerospace technology with hypercar engineering. In reality, parallels cannot be drawn between the Tesla Roadster and the Pushpak Vimana.
