VinFast VF5 Facelift:  VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, has recently filed a design patent for the forthcoming VinFast VF5 electric SUV in India. The VF5 will be placed below the VinFast VF6 electric SUV in the brand’s lineup upon its arrival. The design patent for the VF5 facelift shows several major changes in terms of design when compared to the outgoing model. Let’s take a look at what can be expected in terms of range, features, and specs from the forthcoming VinFast VF5 electric SUV.

VinFast VF5 Facelift: Range & Specs

Information regarding the battery pack, range, and powertrain specifications remains hidden at the moment. The outgoing VinFast VF5 powertrain details are as follows:

Battery Pack

Up to 95 hp/135 Nm

Up to 268 Km (NEDC)

37.23 kWh

Up to 136 hp/135 Nm

VinFast VF5 Facelift: Rivals & Expected Price

The VinFast VF5 Facelift is expected to rival the likes of the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and the Tata Nexon EV in the Indian market. While the Nexon EV is priced between ₹12.49 lakh and ₹17.89 lakh, the XUV 3XO EV is priced between ₹13.89 lakh and ₹14.96 lakh, all prices ex-showroom. Thus, we expect the VF5 facelift to be priced between ₹12 lakh to ₹15 lakh in the Indian market.

VinFast VF5 Facelift: Design

As mentioned earlier, the patent image of the VinFast VF5 facelift shows several distinctions in terms of design when compared to the outgoing model, currently sold in the Vietnamese market. Key changes in terms of exterior on the VF5 facelift are expected to be:

Front: The headlamps are sleeker and are placed lower on each side of the redesigned front bumper. Thick black housings and elements now appear to merge with the lower section of the bumper, which is now dark. The bonnet appears to be taller and features more sharp, and angular lines.

Side Profile: The side profile retains the overall silhouette of the outgoing model of the VinFast VF5 facelift. However, the SUV looks taller, and a new set of alloy wheels is also anticipated. Traditional pull-type door handles are also visible in the patent image, and the window area is surrounded by black trim.

Rear Profile: While the outgoing unit features a sleek taillight setup and reverse lights and indicators are placed lower on the rear bumper, the patent image shows a chunkier taillight unit with indicators and reverse lamps integrated within it.
