What Is PM RAHAT Scheme:  The Indian government has introduced the PM RAHAT (Road Accident Victim Hospitalisation and Assured Treatment) scheme to provide cashless medical treatment to road accident victims. The PM RAHAT scheme is a nationwide initiative, and it aims to remove financial barriers that often delay life-saving treatment for road accident victims.

PM RAHAT Scheme: Coverage

Under the PM RAHAT scheme, eligible road accident victims will be provided with cashless treatment of up to Rs 1.50 lakh for a period of 7-days from the accident. The scheme will provide benefits to all road victims, regardless of whether the accident occurred on a city street, national highway, or state road. In case of life-threatening situations, coverage will be provided for 48 hours, while in case of non-life-threatening situations, the coverage will be provided for 24 hours.

PM RAHAT Scheme: Payment

The PM RAHAT scheme is directly linked to the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) 112. In case of uninsured vehicles or hit-and-run cases, the cost will be provided to the victims through budgetary allocations. The integration of PM RAHAT with ERSS is expected to ensure quick access to medical treatment. Designated hospitals will be reimbursed through the motor vehicle accident fund (MVAF).
