The Punch EV became the most affordable electric SUV in the country, and the second most affordable electric car in India post-launch, which helped boost the sales of the SUV. The Punch secured the position of the second most sold car in March 2026, and it has also become the most sold SUV in the country, with sales of a total of 20,977 units.

Tata Nexon & Tata Nexon EV

While the Tata Nexon has lost its crown as the best-selling car in March 2026, it has remained the third most sold car and the second most sold SUV in the country. The Nexon by Tata clocked sales of a total of 19,810 units in March 2026, recording a 21.04 per cent year-on-year growth. The Tata Nexon is available with multiple powertrain options, including a petrol engine, a diesel engine, a turbo-CNG engine, and an electric powertrain. The prices for the ICE Tata Nexon start from Rs 7.31 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas the electric iteration of the SUV is priced between Rs 12.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Creta & Hyundai Creta Electric

The Hyundai Creta has remained one of the most popular mid-size SUVs in the country since its introduction in 2015. While the Creta received a new generation model in 2024, the brand has already begun testing for the next-generation model of the SUV, which suggests the significance of the SUV in the country. The Creta clocked sales of a total of 17,838 units in March 2026, and while it secured the position of the third most sold SUV in the country, it is also the 4th most sold car in the country.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza competes against the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and more such compact SUVs in the Indian market. The facelift model of the Maruti Brezza is expected to be launched soon in the country. The Brezza became the fourth most sold SUV in the country, while making its place in the top 10 cars in March 2026. A total of 16,130 units of the compact SUV were sold in the country in the previous month.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx

Maruti Suzuki Fronx is a sub-compact crossover SUV priced between Rs 7.84 lakh (ex-showroom) and 14 lakh (ex-showroom) in the country. While the Fronx made its place in the top 10 most sold cars in the country last month, it also secured the position as the 5th most sold SUV in the country. A total of 15,540 units of the Maruti Fronx were sold in March 2026, recording a 13.69 per cent year-on-year growth.
