Tata Motors, a leading automobile manufacturer in India has revealed that it will be introducing the first-ever CNG AMT cars in the country, the Tata Tiago CNG AMT and Tata Tigor CNG AMT. The Indian automaker has given us a sneak peek of these CNG AMT variants on its social media platform and hinted at their imminent launch.
Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor - CNG AMT
Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor are currently available in CNG variants with manual transmission, along with a petrol powertrain as well. The addition of CNG options has already enhanced the attractiveness of these models and the upcoming inclusion of AMT in Tata Tiago CNG and Tata Tigor CNG will further elevate their appeal. This will be a remarkable move in the Indian passenger vehicle market, where the combination of CNG and automatic transmission technology hasn't been common due to the perception that they may not work well together.
The teaser shared by Tata Motors has not revealed any details about the upcoming CNG AMT variants for the Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor. It's likely that these variants will share specifications with the existing CNG manual models since the powertrain is expected to remain consistent. Additionally, introducing CNG AMT to the Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor could open the door for the Tata Altroz CNG to adopt the same technology.
