Bihar Election 2025 Phase 2 Live Voting Updates: Approximately 68.52 % Turnout Recorded, Highest-Ever In Bihar's History

As per the voter turnout figure released by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Bihar observed a record voting of 68.52 per cent in seocnd phase of poll. 

With ECI releasing the latest figures of voter tunout in the second phase of Bihar assembly election 2025, the state recorded highest ever voter turnout of 67.14 per cent. Constitunecies like kishanganj, Kathihar, Purnia remain at forefront of the figure. 

Kishanganj recorded 76.26 per cent voter turnour, followed by Kathihar and Purnia with 75.23 per cent and 73.79 per cent. 

As soon as ECI released the provisional figure of voter turnout as of 5 pm during the second phase of Bihar assembly election 2025, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav lauded the voter turnout numbers of the state. 

"My heart is filled with joy; my Bihar has truly worked wonders. Reports of bumper voting are coming in from everywhere. The elderly, women, youth, traders, farmers, every caste, every class is enthusiastically ensuring their participation in this grand festival of democracy. May this momentum not stop, may these steps not halt," he said in a post on X.

As the Elction Commission of India has released the estimated voter turnout as of Bihar assembly election 2025 as of 5 pm, the state has recorded an overall voter turnout of 67.14 per cent with Gurua, Belaganj and Barachatti among the constituencies with highest percentage of voter turnout. 

Gurua assembly seat recoded a voter turnout of 70.32 per cent, Belaganj registered voter turnout of 72.36 per cent and Barachatti recorded a voter turnout of 72.15 per cent. 

Amid the trend of high voter turnout in Bihar assembly election 2025, the secong phase of voting recorded a 67.14 per cent of voter turnout till 5 pm. 

Amid high voter turnout in second phase of Bihar assembly election 2025, similar to first phase, a presiding officer in Arwal district died on duty. The officer, Arvind Kumar was posted at polling booth number 189 under the Arwal assembly constituency and suddenly fell ill during polling.

Lok Sabha MP Radha Mohan, after casting his vote, said that Tejashwi Yadav will not be able to form a government in this universe.  "We will win by record votes in Motihari assembly seat... He (Tejashwi Yadav) will not form a government in this universe. That may happen in Nepal or China, but he will not be able to form a government in any Indian state...", Radha Mohan Said. 

Amid the polling for the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, minister and national president of Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) Santosh Kumar Suman expressed confidence in the NDA's victory.

Speaking to ANI, Suman said that the feedback from party workers on the ground shows that 'NDA ki aandhi chal rahi hai' (there is a storm of NDA).

He said, "The feedback we are receiving from our party workers shows that 'NDA ki aandhi chal rahi hai' (there is a storm of NDA). The impact of the work done by the government is being seen. On November 14, we will celebrate Holi and Diwali together and form a strong government."

A total of 14.55 per cent of the 3.7 crore voters exercised their franchise in the first two hours of voting in the second phase of assembly elections in Bihar on Tuesday, an official said. Gayaji district recorded the highest polling percentage so far at 15.97, followed by Kishanganj (15.81) and Jamui (15.77).

Bhagalpur district recorded the lowest turnout of 13.43 per cent till 9 am. Voting began for 122 constituencies in Bihar in the second and final phase of the high-stakes assembly polls amid tight security arrangements, he said.

The polling began at 7 am and will continue till 5 pm. In this phase, the electoral fate of 1,302 candidates, including several ministers in the Nitish Kumar government, will be sealed.

As the polling for the second phase of the Bihar elections is underway, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge stressed that the state needs a 'model' filled with economic development, social justice, and equality.

He attacked the Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance government, accusing it of running an enduring, opportunistic, corruption-ridden government that is against the poor and deprived.

"Bihar needs a 'model' filled with economic development, social justice, and equality. For 20 years, Bihar has endured an opportunistic, corruption-ridden government that is against the poor and deprived; today, the time for change has arrived," Kharge wrote on 'X'.

Kharge also appealed to the voters to turn out in large numbers and encourage others to participate in the voting process taking place at the "birthplace of democracy."

"In this country, there can be no greater festival than this. This is a festival that changes a person's life. Therefore, my appeal to everyone is to step out of your homes and reach the temples of this grand festival to cast your votes," RJD candidate from the Bodh Gaya Assembly constituency, Kumar Sarvjeet, told ANI.

Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) founder Prashant Kishor on Tuesday morning asserted that the voting in Bihar should focus on the state's issues, downplaying the heightened security measures in the state following a blast in Delhi, in which 8 people were killed.

Speaking to ANI, Kishor argued that things like the Delhi blast near the Red Fort may 'sometimes happen' during elections, and people in Bihar needn't get terrified. Extending support to the government, he said that the people of Bihar and the country have elected leaders to Parliament to ensure security.

He emphasised that security is being handled by the elected government and assured that all necessary actions will be taken. Voting is currently underway in Bihar's second and final phase of assembly elections

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday appealed to voters in Bihar to exercise their franchise to form a government that would remain dedicated to addressing their issues.

Taking to X, Gandhi said that the citizens must fight for the protection of democracy and the Constitution.

"Today, the second and final phase of voting is taking place in Bihar. I appeal to all brothers and sisters of the state to participate enthusiastically in this grand festival of democracy. For jobs, education, health, and industry; for the protection of democracy and the Constitution; for Bihar's bright future vote and form a government that is dedicated to working for you," Gandhi said.

Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, after casting his vote along with his family, says, “There will be a higher turnout than in the first phase, especially among women and Scheduled Castes. The NDA has worked for development through MSME training, Vishwakarma Yojana, and tech centres. We believe good work will bring good results.”

Nearly 3.7 crore voters, comprising 1.95 crore men and 1.74 crore women, are eligible to cast their ballots at 45,399 polling stations, the highest ever set up for an election phase in the state.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday urged the people of the state to vote in the second phase of the assembly polls and exercise their democratic rights.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister appealed to the people to prioritise voting above their chores.

"In democracy, voting is not only our right but also our duty. Today, voting for the second phase of the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections is taking place -- all voters are urged to exercise their voting rights without fail. Vote and inspire others to do so as well. Vote first, then refreshments!" Chief Minister Kumar posted on X.

On the second phase of Bihar Election 2025, RJD leader Shakti Singh Yadav says, "...On 16th November, votes were cast in 121 constituencies for change... Over 80 per cent of seats show signs of a public trend favouring the Mahagathbandhan candidates. Today is the second phase... There is uneasiness among those who, by seizing power, have pushed Bihar into disarray. They have made it a victim of administrative chaos. But the enthusiasm in today's voting, the long queues everywhere, and the smiles on women's faces are visible... The people of Bihar want to see Tejashwi Yadav's face at the swearing-in ceremony on the 18th..."

Bihar will be witnessing the second and final phase of its high-stakes Assembly Elections 2025 on Tuesday, as voting will take place across 122 constituencies spread over 20 districts. This concluding phase will play a decisive role in shaping the composition of the next state government, bringing weeks of intense campaigning to a close.

A total of 1,302 candidates, including 136 women and one third-gender candidate, are in the fray in this phase, which covers parts of central, western, and northern Bihar. Nearly 3.7 crore voters, comprising 1.95 crore men and 1.74 crore women, are eligible to cast their ballots at 45,399 polling stations, the highest ever set up for an election phase in the state.
