Bihar: In the Sonbarsa Nagar Panchayat area, a young man paid a heavy price for highlighting civic issues on social media. Shubham Kumar, who posted about the widespread garbage and filth in the town on Facebook, hoping authorities would take notice and clean it up, ended up facing severe retaliation.

Enraged by the post, Sonbarsa Nagar Panchayat Chairman Manish Kumar allegedly sent nine of his associates to Shubham’s house, asking him to come meet the chairman. Trusting the invitation, Shubham went to the chairman’s residence.

According to Shubham’s complaint, as soon as he arrived, Chairman Manish Kumar abused him and said, “You dare post against me on social media? Today we’ll teach you a lesson.” He then instructed his men to beat him up.

The group, identified as Manish Raj alias Viplav Vishwas, Manoj Sah, Sameer Kumar alias Taklu, Sahil Ansari, Rohit Chaudhary, Subham Kumar, Anand Verma, Ranjit Gupta, and Pappu Ansari, allegedly attacked Shubham brutally with sticks, rods, and other objects.

Shubham pleaded to be spared, but the assault continued mercilessly. His shirt was torn off, and he was stripped naked while being beaten. The attackers also spat on his face during the assault. After the prolonged thrashing, they warned him: “If you file a case or complaint, your condition will be even worse.” They eventually let him go in a badly injured state.
