The Bihar government has made e-KYC verification mandatory for all ration cardholders in the Saraigarh-Bhaptiyahi block of Supaul district, Bihar. Beneficiaries who fail to complete the process risk having their names removed from ration cards, which could cause serious difficulties for affected families.
e-KYC Mandatory for Every Ration Card Member
Block Supply Officer Chandikeshwar Jha clarified that e-KYC verification is compulsory for each individual whose name appears on a ration card. If any member does not complete e-KYC within the prescribed time, their name may be removed from the card.
Repeated Government Notifications Issued
Chandikeshwar Jha said the government has issued multiple instructions and notifications regarding mandatory e-KYC. Information has also been widely shared through Public Distribution System (PDS) dealers and at the block level. Despite this, several beneficiaries are yet to complete e-KYC for themselves or their family members.
Online Facility Available for Those Living Elsewhere
The officer added that every listed member must undergo separate e-KYC verification. Beneficiaries residing outside the area can complete the process using a mobile phone, as an online facility has been provided by the department.
Deadline Set for February 12
Issuing a strict warning, Chandikeshwar Jha said that after February 12, the names of members who have not completed e-KYC may be removed from ration cards. The responsibility for any such deletion will lie entirely with the concerned beneficiary.
Aim Is Transparency and Fair Distribution
He explained that the primary objective of e-KYC is to ensure that only eligible beneficiaries receive government scheme benefits. This helps eliminate ineligible names, maintain transparency, and prevent disruptions in ration distribution.
