The Bihar government has taken a major and crucial decision to ensure the timely completion of important road and urban development projects underway in Patna and Vaishali districts. Keeping the public interest in mind, the government has approved the proposal for the allocation of nine sand quarries (balughats). 

The allocation has been entrusted to the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL) with some necessary conditions and restrictions. Under this decision, a total of seven sand quarries in Patna district and two in Vaishali district have been allocated to the BSRDCL.

The sand quarries allocated in Patna district include Patna Ganga-2, 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, Patna Ganga-3A, and Patna Ganga-3B. Meanwhile, in the Vaishali district, the Vaishali Ganga-6E and Vaishali Ganga-6F sand quarries have been handed over to the corporation. 

The government is expected to provide significant relief to the construction work of the JP Ganga Path Samagra Udyan Project (Phase-1), following the initiative. Now, the uninterrupted availability of necessary construction materials, especially sand, can be ensured for this ambitious project. This will remove obstacles in the construction work and make it easier to complete the project within the stipulated deadline. 

Additionally, this decision will also directly benefit the four-lane widening and construction of the Bhadraghat to Didarganj road, as well as the four-lane widening project of the Didarganj-Fatuha-Bakhtiyarpur-Karjan (Athmalgola) road. The widening of these roads will reduce traffic pressure in Patna and its surrounding areas and make travel smoother than before.

The state government believes that the allocation of sand quarries will prevent unnecessary delays in construction work. This will not only increase the pace of the projects but also help in controlling costs. Better road connectivity will also promote trade, industry, and other economic activities. 

Overall, this decision is being considered a significant step towards strengthening the infrastructure of the capital, Patna, and its surrounding districts. This will provide the general public with better road facilities, reduce the problem of traffic congestion, and give new impetus to urban development.
