Bihar Govt Launches 200 Holi Special Buses; Online Booking From Feb 1
The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation will operate 200 special buses for Bihari migrants for the Holi festival.

To ensure safe, affordable, and convenient travel for migrant Biharis during the Holi festival, the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) will operate around 200 special buses from February 15 to March 15. The buses will ply on major interstate routes connecting Bihar with Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Jharkhand.

The special services will be operated under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and will include both AC deluxe and non-AC deluxe buses, each with a seating capacity of 50 to 60 passengers. Ticket booking for these buses will begin on February 1.

Transport Minister Shravan Kumar said that trains witness heavy rush during festivals, and keeping this in mind, the state government has arranged special interstate bus services to facilitate the smooth travel of migrant Biharis on the occasion of Holi. He added that the government will also provide special discounts on fares to make the journey more affordable. The Transport Department is currently finalising routes and fare structures.

Passengers will be able to book tickets online through the official BSRTC website (https://bsrtc.bihar.gov.in), with payment options including UPI, debit cards, credit cards, and net banking. To ensure passenger comfort, clean toilet facilities for both men and women will be provided at designated bus stops along the routes.

Officials noted that a similar initiative was undertaken last year during the Dussehra and Chhath festivals, when BSRTC operated 220 interstate buses from September 20 to November 19, 2025. During that period, around 2.5 lakh passengers availed the service, with an average of 107 one-way buses operating daily and seat occupancy reaching 81 per cent.
