The Bihar government is set to take a major initiative to provide timely and effective justice to the people of Bihar. The Home Department has approved the construction of a total of 45 prosecution office buildings in 23 districts and subdivisions. For this, the District Magistrates (DMs) of all concerned districts have been instructed to identify land and send a report promptly. 

Citing a High Court order, the Secretary of the Home Department has asked for the construction process to be initiated on a priority basis. Approximately 4,000 square feet of land will be required for each building. In the first phase, government land will be given priority, while in the case of non-availability, private land will be acquired on a perpetual lease.

In Muzaffarpur district, new prosecution office buildings will be constructed in the Sadar and Western subdivision areas. Currently, the prosecution offices are operating under alternative arrangements from the court premises and the SDO West office. The new buildings will make operations smoother and more robust, and will also enable better preservation of records. 

The Home Department has released a district and subdivision-wise list. In some districts, the construction of buildings is proposed at three or four locations. The Directorate of Prosecution has also been instructed to provide a progress report so that the further process can be completed swiftly. 

Construction will take place in these districts/subdivisions:

* Patna: Patna City, Danapur, Masaurhi, Paliganj 

* Nalanda: Hilsa 

* Gaya: Sherghati 

* Aurangabad: Aurangabad, Daudnagar 

* Saran: Chhapra, Sonpur 

* Kaimur: Bhabua, Mohania 

* Muzaffarpur: Sadar, Western 

* Sitamarhi: Pupri, Belsand

The construction of new prosecution office buildings will improve the prosecution of cases, file management, and judicial coordination, which is expected to further expedite the process of justice for the general public.
