The Bihar government is set to start the new year by giving fresh impetus to the healthcare system. The government is rapidly advancing the recruitment process to improve medical services, which have been affected by long-standing vacant posts in the state.
In line with this, the health department is expected to receive a new team of 663 general doctors, 808 dentists, over 11,000 nurses, 498 nursing tutors, and 121 AYUSH doctors from January. This significant expansion of human resources will contribute to the improvement of the state's health services.
Posts that have been vacant for several years in the health department were affecting the quality of service in areas from rural regions to district hospitals. The government has made this a priority and has accelerated the recruitment process.
The deployment of general physicians and specialist dentists is expected to bring about a significant change in medical services at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and district hospitals. Over 11,000 nurses will bring new energy to hospitals.
A severe shortage of nursing staff was profoundly affecting the work culture in hospitals and the quality of patient care. The appointment of over 11,000 staff nurses will not only reduce the pressure on human resources in hospitals but also improve the quality of service everywhere, from the ICU to the general wards.

The addition of 498 nursing tutors will also raise the standard of training at nursing institutions. AYUSH services will also be strengthened. Through the recruitment of 121 AYUSH doctors, the government is also working to strengthen traditional systems of medicine.
