A football stadium with a track will be constructed in Umar Mathia, Manjha block, in Gopalganj at a cost of Rs 3.20 crore. The site has been selected at the administrative level, and a proposal has been sent to the government for approval.
Once funds are allocated, construction will commence. This new stadium aims to foster sports talent in Manjha block, providing better facilities for aspiring athletes. Under the Khelo India initiative, efforts are underway to enhance sports infrastructure in the district.
The government has initiated the development of sports grounds in every panchayat and larger stadiums in selected blocks. As part of this plan, a football stadium with a track is set to be built in Umar Mathia.
This project has been included in the Chief Minister Sports Development Scheme, with an estimated budget of Rs 3.20 crore. Additionally, a proposal has been made to revamp the old playground in Barauli High School, with an equal investment of Rs 3.20 crore.
The construction of the football stadium with a track will significantly benefit football players in rural areas, providing them with a well-equipped ground for training and a track for fitness. Previously, the district lacked such facilities. This will be the first time a dedicated football stadium with a track is being developed in the region.
Apart from Manjha, a similar project in Baikunthpur has already been approved, and the development of a sports ground in Barauli is also in the pipeline. These initiatives will contribute to the overall growth of sports talent in the district.
