In a major connectivity boost to the Seemanchal region of northeastern Bihar, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has plans to develop a high-speed corridor road from Raiganj via Barsoi to Mor village in Kishanganj. In an official order number62030/1/2025-26 DPR/MK/BSPL/02/1507 dated February 3, 2026, the government organisation has asked a construction company based in Gurugram, Haryana, to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for this ambitious project.

The DPR will contain the route from Barsoi to Mor Village in Kishanganj. Additionally, a separate DPR has been prepared for the Raiganj-Barsoi National Highway.

Project Details

  • The Central Government sanctioned Rs 1.84 crore for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and survey for the road link.
  • Route: Raiganj (West Bengal) to Barsoi (Bihar) to Kishanganj (Bihar)
  • Purpose: To create a direct, high-speed road link between North Bengal and Eastern Bihar, significantly reducing travel time for passengers and commercial transport.

How Will The Route Benefit Travellers?

The national highway will directly connect key areas of Bengal and Bihar, increasing regional traffic connectivity and employment opportunities. According to a report by Jagran.com, the road has been a long-standing demand of Raiganj MP Kartik Chandra Pal. A copy of the letter issued by NHAI has also been sent to the MP.

This corridor also paves the way for the construction of a road bridge over the Kulik River, which flows between Raiganj and Barsoi. For a long time, the local people had been demanding a road bridge on Vahin Ghat near Kachana station, which now seems to be coming true.
