The Bihar government will open Tarkari Outlets near the Officers' Enclave residential complex and the MLA residential complex. These Tarkari Outlets will be opened in collaboration with the Bihar State Vegetable Processing and Marketing Cooperative Federation Limited (Vegfed).
According to information from the Building Construction Department, the decision to open the Tarkari Outlets was made to ensure that staff and officers working in government departments, as well as MLAs, have no difficulty in obtaining fresh, green vegetables near their homes. Currently, three locations have been selected for the outlets.
The department has also issued an order in this regard. For now, a Tarkari Outlet will open in a 165-square-foot space in the pre-existing shop number four at the Officers' Residential Complex, Gardanibagh.
In addition, a Tarkari Outlet will be opened in the pre-existing 124-square-foot shop number two at the Senior Officers' Residential Complex, Shastri Nagar, and another will be located next to the site previously allocated to the Sudha Milk Parlour near the main entrance of the MLA Residential Complex Phase-1 on Veerchand Patel Path.
The department has clarified in its order that if any business other than the Tarkari Outlet is conducted on the premises, the allotment will be cancelled and the shop reclaimed. Furthermore, no other type of construction will be permitted in the pre-existing shop without the department's approval. It should be noted that this is an important scheme by Vegfed.

In February this year, the government announced the opening of Tarkari Outlets in 200 blocks. Under this scheme, there is also a provision for grants to the Primary Cooperative Vegetable Producer Society. Its objective is to deliver vegetables produced by farmers across the state directly to consumers. This could prove effective in freeing farmers from middlemen while also increasing their income.
