Prince Kumar, alias Abhijit—a notorious criminal wanted for gold robberies, dacoity, and Arms Act violations across various states—was killed in a police encounter. The operation was carried out on Friday by a joint team of the Patna STF and Vaishali Police in the Hanuman Nagar Colony under the Sadar police station area. According to the police, Prince opened fire during an arrest attempt and was killed in the ensuing retaliatory action.
STF-Police Siege In Hanuman Nagar
Acting on a confidential tip-off that Prince was hiding in a house in Hanuman Nagar Colony, the STF and Vaishali Police cordoned off the entire area. As soon as the police team asked him to surrender, Prince opened fire on the personnel. In the retaliatory firing that followed, he was critically injured. He was rushed to the Sadar Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared him dead.
Accused In Purnia Tanishq Robbery And Other Serious Crimes
The deceased criminal, Prince Kumar, was a resident of Husaina village in the Goraul police station area of Vaishali district. He was a primary accused in the high-profile Tanishq Jewelry showroom robbery in Purnia. Additionally, dozens of cases related to robbery, dacoity, and the Arms Act were registered against him across multiple police stations, including Sadar, Bidupur, Mahua, Bhagwanpur, Goraul and Patepur. An Arms Act case was also registered against him at the Runni Saidpur police station in Sitamarhi.
A Growing Challenge Since PMCH Escape
In September 2024, Prince Kumar was brought to PMCH (Patna Medical College and Hospital) from Beur Jail along with other prisoners for treatment. During this time, he managed to dodge the police and escape. It is reported that he tricked a policeman by involving him in a "mutton party," locked him in a room and fled with his associates. Since then, he had become a major challenge for the Bihar Police.
Search Across Bihar, Nepal And Other States
Following his escape, several teams, including the STF, conducted continuous raids to apprehend him. Searches were being carried out not only in Bihar but also in Nepal and other states. He was also absconding in connection with a murder case in Vaishali district. Recently, after the court issued a proclamation against him, the police had pasted the notice at his house and warned his family members to ensure his immediate surrender.
Links To Gold Robbery Gang Leader
According to police records, Prince’s name was linked to Subodh Singh, the kingpin of a major gold robbery gang. It is believed that he played a pivotal role in the gang's operations. At the time of the encounter, some of his associates were reportedly present nearby, and the police are currently conducting raids to track them down. Police officials have termed this a major success against organised crime.

Prince Kumar was a dreaded criminal with a history of serious offenses, including robbery, dacoity, murder and Arms Act violations. A resident of Husaina village in Vaishali, he was surprisingly an engineering student before venturing into the world of crime. His criminal journey ended this Friday following the fierce gunfight with the STF.
