In a shocking incident, a dead snake was found in the mess food of a government-run engineering college in Bihar’s Banka district. At least 10 students of the college were taken to the hospital after they complained of food poisoning. The students were reportedly treated for symptoms of nausea and vomiting and are now in stable condition.
The incident sparked massive outrage at the hostel with the students alleging a college staff threatened them when they protested. “We have been facing issues with food (quality) at the mess. But they crossed the limit this time. A snake was found in the food. No one can tolerate this," a third-year student was quoted as saying by NDTV.
A picture of the meal also surfaced on social media in which a tail of something could be seen in the food. Following massive outrage, the district administration has started an investigation into the matter.
After receiving the information, Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Avinash Kumar and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vinod Kumar visited the college on Friday evening and urged the students to maintain peace.
In a similar incident, a Mumbai-based doctor allegedly found a human finger in an ice cream cone which was ordered by his sister online on Wednesday. The incident took place in the Malad area when a woman ordered ice cream along with other items via a grocery delivery app.
Following the incident, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Western Region office has suspended the license of an ice cream manufacturer in Pune. Informing about the suspension, the FSSAI told news agency ANI, “The premises of the ice cream manufacturer have been inspected by a team of FSSAI’s Western Region Office and its license has been suspended.” Meanwhile, the forensic lab reports of the human finger are yet to be released.
