Patna Election 2025 Voting Live Updates: Patna Sees Improved Voter Turnout, Bikram Leads At 66.95%, Digha Trails At 39.1%

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Thursday alleged that in the Danapur assembly constituency, boat services were halted, preventing thousands of voters from reaching their polling stations. The party has sought EC action into the matter. 

Polling officials in Mokama sealed electronic voting machines (EVMs) following the conclusion of first phase of much-hyped Bihar Assembly Elections. 

Union Minister Chirag Paswan said, "The way the trends are coming in, one thing is clear, and there is not even the slightest doubt that after the results on the 14th, the NDA government will once again be formed in Bihar. We have been campaigning for the last 20 days... The way the first phase of voting has concluded has further strengthened our confidence that this time we are moving towards a historic victory... The way the Mahagathbandhan went to the public with false promises and promised government jobs to every family, the people of Bihar are more intelligent. They know that if the state budget is so low, you cannot talk about providing so many government jobs... The public is understanding all these things... In such a situation, I believe that this time our NDA alliance is moving towards a historic victory. By the end of the second phase, the margin of victory is going to increase even more."

Speaking to news agency ANI, actor-singer and BJP leader Pawan Singh on Thursday said, "We are touring the entire Bihar and seeing the blessings that the people are showering on the NDA, our hearts are filled with joy."

VIP chief and Mahagathbandhan deputy CM face Mukesh Sahani has expressed hope about a political shift in Bihar, citing strong voter turnout as a sign of change. "There is a wave of change in Bihar. There is bumper voting happening. I hope that there will be a change in Bihar. A Mahagathbandhan government will be formed," he said.

With voting for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections underway, Additional Secretary of the State Election Department, Madhav Kumar, said, "The voting percentage as of 3 pm is 53.77. We have surpassed the benchmark set by the previous Lok Sabha elections. The voting percentage is highest in Begusarai. The voting percentage in Patna has also improved."

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday accused the RJD of prioritising the interests of wives, sons, and personal gains of its leaders and neglecting the needs of the people of Bihar.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Bhai Vijendra, casting his vote with his wife in Maner, expressed hope that the Mahagathbandhan will form the next Bihar government, saying the people are ready for a change.

Union Minister and RLD Chief Jayant Chaudhary expressed confidence, saying that the NDA government will be formed again in Bihar. "The NDA government will be formed in Bihar again. The government has ensured good governance, and the public is benefiting from various government schemes...The public has also seen the track record of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. The public will not vote for them," ANI quoted Chaudhary as saying.

Popular YouTuber and educator Khan Sir cast his vote during the first phase of polling and urged citizens, especially youths, to exercise their democratic right and break the "low turnout" trend. 

RJD leader and former MP Surajbhan cast his vote at Shree Krishna Middle School in Sakarwar Tola. His wife, RJD leader Veena Devi, is contesting the Mokama Assembly seat against JDU’s Anant Kumar Singh and Jan Suraaj Party’s Priyadarshi Piyush.

On the attack on Deputy CM Vijay Singh's car in Lakhisarai, RJD candidate from Mokama, Veena Devi, said, "...He himself orchestrates it. He gets it done to ensure that his vote share increases..."

She added, "...My entire family is here, and together we have cast our vote..."

Educator Khan Sir cast his vote at booth number 241 in the Kumhrar constituency. His participation highlights the importance of every vote in the ongoing elections.

After casting his vote, Educator Khan Sir said, "The people should vote keeping in mind their candidate and the issues of education, development, healthcare, employment, safety and security in mind. A vote is a very powerful thing. I appeal to the youth to vote."

The RJD tweeted that in the Danapur Assembly constituency, the administration has halted boat operations, leaving thousands of voters unable to reach their polling stations. More than 10,000 voters are now dependent on a single steamer that makes only one round trip per day. The party questioned whether the district administration would take responsibility if an accident were to occur and tagged @CEOBihar and @ECISVEEP, asking, “What are you doing?”

“Slips are being circulated like this in the Digha Assembly constituency. Isn’t this a violation of rules? @ECISVEEP,” he tweeted, sharing a photo of the slip.

Locals of Danapur Diara use boats to reach the polling stations and cast their votes for the first phase of the Bihar elections. They highlighted the absence of a bridge for ambulances and school buses. A local said, 'We are waiting here to cast our votes, but we are not able to cross the water because there is no bridge. We are waiting for the boat. A bridge is needed for ambulances and school buses as well.”

Patna Election Voting Live: Patna has recorded a voter turnout of 37.72 per cent till 1 PM. The highest voter turnout in Patna has been recorded in Masaurhi seat at 48.06 per cent. The lowest at 25 per cent has been recorded in Digha and Bankipur each. 

Actor and BJP leader Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirahua' said, "This is 'Loktantra ka mahaparv'. Step out of your houses and vote for the development of Bihar. We appeal to everyone that voting is the biggest right you have. Vote for the development of Bihar..."

On the ongoing first phase of polling in the Bihar Assembly elections, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit said, "As per the information received so far, no untoward incidents have been reported anywhere. Bihar has always set an example, and we will conduct this election smoothly."

He added, "It is a very important day, and I have come here with my family to cast our votes. I appeal to all voters to exercise their right to vote."

JDU leader Ashok Chaudhary, along with his wife Nita Chaudhary, their daughter, and LJP Ram Vilas MP Shambhavi Chaudhary, cast their votes at a polling booth at St. Paul School in Buddha Colony. JDU leader Ashok Chaudhary said, "I appeal to the people to remember that this is the same Bihar that once extended from Afghanistan to Bangladesh. Bihar made India a golden sparrow during the Maurya period. We have a rich history and culture. To reclaim that, we must vote for development and rise above caste politics."

Patna DSP Anu Kumari inspects a polling booth as voting for the first phase of the Bihar Legislative Assembly Election 2025 is underway. She says, "The police and the administration are assisting the public, and the polling is proceeding smoothly. There are no issues anywhere. Any minor inconvenience is being addressed immediately."

Lalu Yadav Prasad posted on X, "The roti must be turned on the pan, or it will burn. Twenty years is enough! Now, a youth government and a Tejashwi government are essential for a new Bihar."

BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Public is voting with great enthusiasm. They will continue to do so...He (Tejashwi Yadav) just for the sake of it. There is no chance of him becoming the CM. Bihar's result will be historic and decisive."

Two women allege they were not allowed to cast their votes at Veterinary College Ground polling booth in Patna, during the first phase of the Bihar assembly polls.

Shreya said, “The BLO didn’t give me my voter slip, and now they’re saying it’s my fault. They told me to download it digitally, but here they’re insisting it has to be shown in person. I wasn’t provided the slip today, I don’t even know why. Now it’s getting late, so I’m leaving. I came here to vote, but this kind of chaos happens every time in Bihar.”

Why did Tejashwi have to raise these issues?...

A voter turnout of 11.22% was recorded till 9 AM across 14 assembly seats in Patna. The polling, which began at 7:00 am, will continue till 6:00 pm. A total of 149 candidates are contesting in these constituencies as voters step out to elect their representatives in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections.
