Republic Day 2026: Patna Governor Hoists Flag At Gandhi Maidan, Grand Parade Held

The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm in Patna. Governor Mohd. Arif Khan hoisted the flag at Gandhi Maidan, where Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and several other dignitaries were present. A parade of 21 contingents and tableaux from 12 departments showcased the progress of Bihar.

Republic Day 2026: Patna Governor Hoists Flag At Gandhi Maidan, Grand Parade Held
The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm in Patna.

The nation is celebrating its 77th Republic Day with enthusiasm and constitutional pride. In Patna, the main Republic Day function was held at the historic Gandhi Maidan, where Governor Mo. Arif Khan hoisted the national flag at 9 am.

Following the flag hoisting, the tricolour was saluted as the national anthem was sung and patriotic slogans echoed across the ground. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, cabinet ministers, MPs, MLAs, senior officials and a large number of citizens attended the ceremony.

A grand parade featuring 21 contingents was held after the flag hoisting. Police, Home Guard and other forces participated, showcasing discipline and dedication. Tableaux from 12 state government departments were also displayed, highlighting development schemes, women’s empowerment, education, health and social reforms. The tableaux reflected Bihar’s development journey and cultural diversity.

The district administration made extensive security arrangements for the event. Gandhi Maidan and the surrounding areas were divided into four sectors, with about 136 magistrates and police officers deployed. Additional forces, including a women’s unit and a lathi squad, were also deployed, and the entire area was monitored through 128 CCTV cameras.

Along with Gandhi Maidan, the national flag was hoisted at the state’s key power centres. In the Bihar Legislative Assembly complex, Speaker Prem Kumar hoisted the flag, while in the Legislative Council, Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh hoisted the national flag and extended Republic Day greetings.

Across Bihar, flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programmes were organised at government offices, educational institutions and public venues, reinforcing the commitment to democracy, the constitution and national unity on the 77th Republic Day.
