Tarapur Election 2025 Voting Live Updates: Polling Concludes At 5 PM Amid Security Concerns

Polling officials seal EVMs at polling booth no. 52 as the voting for the first phase of Bihar Assembly Elections concludes. Voting was curtailed to 5 pm in Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Mahishi, Tarapur, Munger, Jamalpur, and in 56 polling booths of the Suryagarha Assembly segment due to security concerns, reports ANI.

By 3 PM, Tarapur recorded a voter turnout of 55.33%, reflecting a steady participation of the electorate in the ongoing polling process.

At polling booth number 310, located at the Forest Department Rest House in Tarapur constituency, 374 registered voters, including 170 women, participated in the historic vote.

Voting was conducted peacefully across the three assembly constituencies of Munger district, with residents of Bhimbandh showing visible enthusiasm. Seven polling stations were reopened in the Naxal-affected region, and a strong deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) ensured a smooth polling process.

In the 2015 Bihar Assembly elections, Mewalal Chaudhary of JD(U) won the Tarapur seat by securing 66,411 votes, defeating his nearest rival Shakuni Choudhury of HAM(S) by a margin of 11,947 votes.

By 1 PM, Tarapur recorded a voter turnout of 44.35%, reflecting a steady participation of the electorate in the ongoing polling process.

Voting is taking place for the first time in 20 years in the Naxal-affected area of Bhimband.

A local villager, Neelam Kumari, said, "I am feeling very happy. Earlier, we had to cross the entire jungle to reach Gaay Ghat. Now, it is nearby and convenient. The arrangements are good. Earlier, we faced a lot of difficulty reaching there, but the situation has improved significantly. I want to thank the Election Commission."

A government official said, "This is booth no. 310. Voting is taking place here after 20 years. An unfavourable incident took place some years back, because of which voting had stopped here. We had visited the place and assured the voters that they could come and vote freely without any fear. We also raised awareness for the people to come out and vote."

Tarapur, constituency number 164, is located in the Munger district of Bihar. It is a general seat under the Jamui Lok Sabha constituency. Tarapur will vote in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections and the counting of votes will take place on November 14, 2025.

29.67% voting was recorded till 11 AM in Tarapur. Voters are actively participating in the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections.

Lalu Yadav Prasad posted on X, "The roti must be turned on the pan, or it will burn. Twenty years is enough! Now, a youth government and a Tejashwi government are essential for a new Bihar."

Voting takes place for the first time in 20 years in the Naxal-affected area of Bhimband in Munger district. Tarapur, constituency number 164, is also in Munger district, Bihar.

A local villager said, "We are feeling very good. I am very happy that all of you came here. I am feeling very good (to have voted here for the first time in 20 years). Earlier, the situation was not favourable since 2005. Now, there is no fear. We have been living peacefully ever since the camp (security forces) was set up here. The government facilities are very good here. We have also been given free rations for a few years now, and we are grateful for that. We have no problems anymore. We are living peacefully in the jungle. We are happy that a polling booth has been set up here. Young and old, everyone is able to cast their vote"

The Tarapur Vidhan Sabha constituency has remained a JDU bastion for the past 15 years, largely due to the significant presence of Koeri or Kushwaha voters. In the current election, the seat has shifted to the BJP, with Choudhary, a member of the Kushwaha community, fielded as the party’s candidate.

According to Election Commission data, the Tarapur constituency had a total of 3,17,340 voters in the 2020 elections. Among them, 1,71,393 were male and 1,45,939 were female voters.

The Tarapur Assembly constituency is largely dominated by backward castes, with the Kushwahas being the most influential group. Other significant communities include the Yadavs, along with a notable presence of Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Muslims.

Shakuni Choudhary, father of Deputy CM and BJP candidate from Tarapur Samrat Choudhary, said, "I appeal people to vote on the issue of development and help NDA form government with overwhelming majority. Samrat Choudhary is going to win with a big margin." 

On Rahul Gandhi's claims of voter fraud in Haryana elections, Samrat Chaudhary said, "It's been four months now, and he hasn't been able to provide a single proof. We've never seen an opposition leader like him. At least make some preparations. I think a team from Italy is sitting with him."

Deputy CM and BJP candidate from Tarapur seat, Samrat Chaudhary, said, "NDA is coming to power with a thumping majority. In Bihar, a good government should be formed, and the work done by Nitish Kumar should continue. Bihar was transformed through a lot of hard work."

For the first phase of the Bihar Election 2025, Deputy Chief Minister and BJP candidate from the Tarapur seat, Samrat Chaudhary, cast his vote in Munger as polling began on Thursday. By 9 AM, 15.08% voter turnout was recorded in Tarapur during the first phase of polling.

Your vote will play a crucial role in restoring Bihar's pride, along with providing modern education to every resident of the state, welfare for the poor, and employment opportunities for the youth."

Voting for the first phase of the Bihar Election 2025 has begun in Lakhanpur, part of the Tarapur constituency, with voters turning out early to cast their ballots. Long queues were seen at polling stations as people arrived with enthusiasm to participate in the democratic process.

Voters participating in the first phase of the Bihar Election 2025 can obtain booth details from their local Booth Level Officer (BLO). Several districts have also placed QR codes at public locations, allowing citizens to scan and instantly find their polling booths. Those facing online difficulties can visit their district election office for assistance, a useful option for individuals less familiar with using the internet.

PM Narendra Modi urges the people of Bihar to go out and vote with enthusiasm. "Today is the first phase of the festival of democracy in Bihar. My appeal to all voters in this phase is that they should vote with full enthusiasm. On this occasion, my special congratulations to all young voters of the state who are going to cast their vote for the first time," he says.
