The process of taking action against the beneficiaries who do not build houses by taking the amount of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana has started in Chatra District of Jharkhand. A final warning for the same has been issued. As per the information, if the construction work won't be started by December 25, then an FIR can be registered against the beneficiaries.
Deputy Commissioner Abu Imran on Monday issued instructions for the beneficiaries and officials including the Deputy Commissioner, the activities of Block Development Officers and Block Program Officers.
As per reports, BDOs and BPOs are pressurizing the beneficiaries to complete the pending housing, but even after that about two thousand beneficiaries are sitting quietly after withdrawing the amount in advance.

The number of such beneficiaries is two thousand and fourteen (2014). Between financial year 2016-17 to 2021-22, the target of 82 lakh 988 units was achieved under the PM Rural Housing Scheme, out of which 80 thousand 972 schemes have been completed. That means the construction work of the 2014 houses is pending.
District Administration has the responsibility
Now the district administration is fully committed to completing the pending houses. The order mentioned that a complaint or FIR would be registered against those beneficiaries who did not get the work done within six months of taking the first instalment amount.
What could be the reason?
The amount of the housing scheme was spent on other works, the house was not made as per the prescribed standards i.e. the house was made bigger and was kept incomplete for more than a year. After receiving the amount of both the instalments of the scheme item, the scheme has been kept incomplete for more than a year.
