Despite robust growth, the adoption of financial investment products in India remains relatively low compared to the size of the economy. Ambani is now poised to enter this market, following his successful and disruptive ventures into the telecom and retail sectors.
JFS has introduced personal loans for both salaried and self-employed individuals in Mumbai, along with consumer durable loans available at 300 stores across India. This information was disclosed in a presentation to analysts on Monday, providing a more detailed look at the company's operations, which were relatively unclear when it went public in August.
Furthermore, the company is set to introduce business and merchant loan offerings tailored for self-employed individuals. In addition, the company's insurance brokering division has formed partnerships with 24 insurance companies. Simultaneously, its payments bank division, which recently reintroduced savings account and bill payment services, is in the process of preparing for the launch of debit cards.
The company's stock surged by up to 3.7% during the initial trading session but later trimmed some of the gains to settle at a 2% increase. In contrast, Jio Financial, in partnership with U.S. asset manager BlackRock for launching asset management services in India, was listed at a considerable markdown, with the stock showing a 14% decrease by the close of trading on Monday.
Analysts at Jefferies anticipate that JFS will adopt a "balanced approach to growth" and believe that there is minimal risk for competitors like Bajaj Finance and other prominent retail banks.
