New Gaming Rules
India's online gaming sector will witness a new era starting next month, with the government officially notifying regulations under the Online Gaming Promotion and Regulation Act, 2025, on Wednesday, May 1, 2026.
These rules will come into effect on May 1 and aim to bring structure to the rapidly growing space, which has seen both growth in esports and growing concerns about online money gaming.
These rules will create the Online Gaming Authority of India, which will operate under MeitY and serve as the main regulator for online games in the country.
The authority will include officials from several ministries, including Home Affairs, Finance, Information and Broadcasting, and Sports.
Digital Payment Security
To further strengthen digital payment security, RBI may introduce two-factor authentication for UPI transactions from May, which means that apart from entering a PIN, users may need additional verification steps like biometrics or hardware tokens.
This move has the potential to curb financial fraud.

From May, fund houses will now have to provide more detailed information on their costs and “Risk-o-meters”.
LPG Cylinder Pricing And Booking Rule
With the month of May approaching, changes are expected in LPG cylinder booking rules amid ongoing disruptions in the global energy market.
According to media reports, LPG prices may be revised from May 1. Following the Iran-US tensions, oil companies have already increased the price of a 14.2-kg domestic cylinder by Rs 60. Meanwhile, the 19-kg commercial cylinder has seen multiple hikes within a short span. In April 2026 alone, prices in metro cities rose by Rs 196 to Rs 218, after earlier increases in March.
Additionally, companies are expected to change the lock-in period for booking LPG cylinders, which is currently 25 days. The OTP-based delivery system is also expected to be made permanent.
