Through the Tatkal Passport Scheme, eligible applicants can secure a new passport in as little as 1 to 3 business days—making it an ideal solution for urgent international travel. While standard processing requires a longer turnaround time at a lower cost, choosing the expedited Tatkal route involves an additional fee of up to Rs 2,000.

How to Apply?
- You need to visit the official website of the Passport Seva Portal.
- Sign up by filling in your details and then log in.
- Next, click on the 'Apply for Fresh Passport/Reissue of Passport' option.
- You need to select the 'Tatkal' category instead of 'Normal'.
- Fill in all your details in the form accurately, according to your documents.
- Then upload all the required documents.
- After uploading the documents, pay the prescribed Tatkal fee online.
- Now, book an appointment at your nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).
- Bring all your original documents with you.
- If all your documents are found to be correct and there are no problems with police verification, you will receive your passport within 1-3 days.
