"Indian equity markets ended the session on a cautious to negative note as mixed cues from Asian peers and sharp losses in overseas markets, along with continued weakness in the rupee, kept investor risk appetite subdued. The rupee slipped further to around 91.64 against the dollar, reflecting strong dollar demand and reviving concerns over imported inflation and near-term capital flow stability," said Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money.
According to Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst - Commodity and Currency, LKP Securities, the rupee traded weak, below 91.60, down nearly 0.70 per cent, as rising geopolitical tensions involving Europe and Greenland, along with fresh concerns over US tariff actions and the lack of a confirmed India–US trade deal, continued to weigh on sentiment.
"A sharp rally in bullion prices has further pressured the rupee by inflating the import bill. The currency is likely to remain volatile in a broad range of 90.90–92.00 in the near term," Trivedi said.
The equity indices ended Wednesday's session in the red after a highly volatile trade. The Sensex closed at 81,909.63, down 270.84 points or 0.33 per cent. While Nifty 50 settled at 25,157.50, down 75 points or 0.30 per cent
Sensex is showing a sign of recovery as it bounced back over 600 points from the day's low amid buying in heavyweights like Eternal, Indigo, Ultratech cement and others.
The equity indices have shown some signs of recovery in the mid-hour trade. The Sensex recovered over 450 points from the day's low, and Nifty50 returned over the psychological level of 25,000.

Stock market Today: Nifty opened near 25,150 with an exhaustion gap and is currently trading flat after yesterday’s sharp sell-off.
"The index remains technically weak, with immediate resistance placed at 25,400 and a decisive close above 25,600 required to signal any meaningful short-term recovery. On the downside, 25,000 continues to be the key psychological and structural support; a sustained break below this zone can accelerate the decline toward 24,800," said Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money.
"While oversold conditions may trigger intermittent short-covering, the broader structure remains bearish. As long as Nifty trades below 25,600, rallies are likely to face selling pressure. Range activity between 25,100 and 25,600 is expected in the near term, but downside risks remain dominant if global cues deteriorate further," he added.
The bullion prices continued their dream run, backed by heightening global uncertainties. The Gold touched a fresh all-time high in the early trade on Wednesday. MCX Gold touched 156788.0 per 10 grams in early trade.
The metal stocks continued their gaining momentum on the back of tightening global uncertainties, while the IT stocks carried on their losing streak amid subdued Q3 earnings and persistent selling.
After showing some resilience last week, the Indian currency fell lower againstthe US dollar in the past two sessions. The Rupee dipped 23 paise to an all-time low of 91.20 in the early trade.
The Broader indices continued to lose amid persistent selling.

The stock indices started the session in negative territory, extending the previous session's losing momentum. However, it recovered a bit in minutes to trade flat.
Sensex started the session at 81,794.65, down against last session's closing of 82,180.47. Nifty 50 started trading at 25,141, down against the last day's closing of 25,231.50.
Meanwhile, both indices were trading flat at around 9:28 AM.
