Naoki Miyaji, the CEO of the Japan Cricket Association, has announced an important development regarding the travel and accommodation issues associated with the cricket tournament at the Asian Games 2026, stating that teams have the liberty to organize their travel and accommodation on their own if they so desire.
The matter of logistical arrangements has been brought to the floor in the recent Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting as some leading cricketing countries voiced their concerns about the arrangements of the competition.
Cricket boards from countries like India, Bangladesh and others are known to have expressed their apprehensions regarding accommodation where the hotels being provided to the teams are approximately 20 kilometers away from the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin City, Aichi Prefecture.

Miyaji stated that the cricket event for the Asian Games is being held under the aegis of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) by the Aichi-Nagoya Games Organizing Committee (AINAGOC) and the ACC.
"The Asian Games is being organised by the organising committee Aichi-Nagoya Games Organizing Committee (AINAGOC) in collaboration with the ACC under the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA)," Miyaji said.
"I can also assure you that the ACC have been discussing accommodation options with AINAGOC for a long time. The participating teams in cricket are being offered hotel accommodation," he added.
He further assured participating teams that the temporary facilities will provide a comfortable environment for players and officials during the tournament.
"Despite being temporary, the facilities will provide as comfortable a space as possible for the players and officials. There are also permanent facilities around the ground which will be available to the players," he added.
