Bangladesh T20 World Cup 2026 Squad: Bangladesh have announced their squad for the T20 World Cup 2026, set to be played in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. Litton Das will be leading the Bangladesh team, while Mohammed Saif Hassan will be serving as his deputy. They are placed in Group C alongside England, the West Indies, Nepal and Italy.
Senior pacer Taskin Ahmed has made his return to the side, having missed the recent home series against Ireland while featuring in the ILT20 for Sharjah Warriorz. Mustafizur Rahman, who has been at the top of the headlines over the past few days, has also been named in the 15-member squad. The left-arm pacer was recently released by the Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the IPL 2026 as per the BCCI's instructions, with the rising political tensions between India and Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper Jaker Ali and Mahidul Islam Ankon have failed to retain their places, while in-form Najmul Hossain Shanto also missed out. Bangladesh have featured in each of the T20 World Cups so far but have never managed to qualify for the semi-finals or beyond. They have gone for the balanced bowling attack, and apart from an experienced pace attack, Nasum Ahmed and Rishad Hossain will take the responsibility in the spin departments on tracks that will assist turn, making Bangladesh a real threat in the tournament.
The batting will rely heavily on the skipper, but the likes of Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon will add more impact to the top order.
Bangladesh will open their campaign on February 7 against the West Indies at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, while their next two matches against Italy and England are scheduled to be played at the same venue. Heading forward, the Litton-led side will play their final group stage match against Nepal on February 17 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Having announced their squad for the marquee tournament, there are doubts over Bangladesh's travel to India for the matches. Amid the ongoing chaos with Mustafizur getting out of the IPL 2026, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reportedly sprung into action, planning to write to the ICC to request that their matches be shifted to Sri Lanka.
